Spinal Stenosis
Spinal stenosis is a narrowing of the spaces in the spine that the spinal cord and nerves pass through. It is most common in the lower back and neck and usually develops gradually with age, often alongside disc degeneration or arthritis.
Common signs
- Low back pain with aching, cramping, or heaviness in the legs when walking or standing
- Relief when sitting or leaning forward (for example, over a shopping cart)
- Neck pain with tingling or weakness in the arms or hands
- Balance changes or difficulty walking longer distances
How Dr. Raby evaluates it
A history, neurological and orthopedic exam, and X-rays when indicated. Stenosis is often confirmed with MRI, and Dr. Raby will refer you for imaging or to a specialist when your exam calls for it. Some signs — such as loss of bladder or bowel control or rapidly worsening weakness — need urgent medical attention rather than chiropractic care.
Care options at Dynamic Chiropractic
When conservative care is appropriate, a plan may include gentle chiropractic adjustments, spinal decompression, SoftWave therapy, and exercises aimed at keeping you mobile and comfortable. Dr. Raby will be clear about what care can and cannot address in your case.
