Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression

[[PENDING CONFIRMATION — service availability]]

Non-surgical spinal decompression uses a motorized table to apply gentle, controlled traction to the spine. The aim is to reduce pressure on the discs and the nerves around them, which can be a factor in bulging or herniated discs, sciatica, and some cases of chronic back or neck pain.

Who it may help

  • Bulging or herniated discs in the lower back or neck
  • Sciatica related to disc pressure
  • Degenerative disc changes with pain
  • Facet joint irritation
  • Back or neck pain that has not responded to other conservative care

What a session is like

You lie on the decompression table, secured with a harness, while the table applies and releases traction in cycles. Sessions typically last 20 to 30 minutes. Most patients find it comfortable; many describe a gentle stretching sensation. A course of care usually involves a series of sessions, and decompression is generally combined with adjustments and soft-tissue work rather than used alone.

Who it is not for

Decompression is not appropriate for everyone. Pregnancy, certain fractures, spinal implants, severe osteoporosis, and some other conditions rule it out. Dr. Raby screens for these during your examination before recommending it.
