Neuropathy
Peripheral neuropathy is damage to the nerves outside the brain and spinal cord, most often felt in the feet and hands. It has many possible causes — diabetes, nerve compression, injury, certain medications, and others — and finding the cause matters as much as addressing the symptoms.
Common signs
- Burning, tingling, or “pins and needles” in the feet or hands
- Numbness or reduced feeling
- Sharp or shooting pain, often worse at night
- Sensitivity to touch, or feeling unsteady on your feet
How Dr. Raby evaluates it
A detailed history, neurological exam, and review of any lab work or imaging you already have. Because neuropathy has medical causes that need to be managed by your physician, Dr. Raby works alongside your medical care rather than in place of it, and will refer you when the exam points that way.
Care options at Dynamic Chiropractic
When nerve symptoms are related to compression in the spine or extremities, or when Dr. Raby determines conservative care is appropriate, a plan may include chiropractic adjustments, SoftWave therapy, and movement and balance exercises. Dr. Raby will explain what she expects care to address and what it will not.
