What Florida's no-fault law means for you

Florida is a no-fault state. If you carry Florida auto insurance, your own policy includes Personal Injury Protection (PIP) that covers up to $10,000 in medical benefits for injuries from an auto accident, regardless of who was at fault. Those benefits are there whether you use them or not, and you choose the provider.

The catch is timing. Florida law requires that you receive initial medical treatment within 14 days of the accident for those benefits to apply. Miss that window and the insurer can deny the claim.
